What is Biogas CHP?

Biogas CHP, or Combined Heat and Power systems fuelled by biogas, is a highly efficient method of generating electricity and heat simultaneously from organic waste. It utilises biogas, a renewable energy source produced through the anaerobic digestion of organic materials such as agricultural waste, sewage sludge, or food waste.

Biogas CHP systems utilise a process called cogeneration, where biogas is combusted to produce both electricity and heat. This simultaneous generation maximises energy efficiency compared to traditional separate heat and power generation methods. The heat produced can be utilised for heating, cooling, or industrial processes, while the electricity can be used onsite or fed back into the grid.
